“The gaze of the wolf reached into our soul.”

~ Barry Lopez

The grey wolf is perhaps the most persecuted animal in history. Ranchers and politicians have driven the wolf to near extinction. However, Native Americans respected them for their determination, fierce devotion to family, and uncanny hunting ability. Scientists discovered that this apex predator is crucial to keeping the entire ecosystem in order, a key part of nature. It can live in just about any environment, from the arctic to the desert. Its coat comes in colors of all black to all white and all shades in between. It honors the pack but is not afraid to leave it yearning for something more, hence the term “lone wolf.” Its decision to leave the pack is not to be alone but to start its pack making the courageous decision to become a leader and not a follower. Fierce and merciless yet caring and loving. The grey wolf is resilient, making a comeback.

What can we learn from the grey wolf?

Persistence. Survival despite widespread persecution.

Patience.  Waiting for its prey to immerge all night, surprising it in the morning.

Family/Community.  Devotion starts with a monogamous pairing for life. Then the pack.

Fierceness.  Confidence and courageousness in making decisions.

Graceful: Moves effortlessly, but with purpose

We love working with those easily distracted and who are having trouble staying on task. We help them to understand what may be going on, then watch them take flight. There is a significant shift in perspective, ultimately changing behavior leading to a more satisfying life.
