Matt Sampey, Certified ADHD Coach

Hi all, and welcome to Grey Wolf Coaching (GWC)! My name is Matt Sampey. I have ADHD.

GWC was a lifetime in the making. It was a lifetime often filled with frustration and disappointment, dreams unfulfilled. It is built on countless hours asking, why? Reading and listening to books, journaling, praying, running, watching videos, listening to podcasts, going on retreats, etc. My first recollection of anything to do with ADHD was in kindergarten. After this challenging experience (read about here), I had countless unpleasant memories relating to the disorder. It is easy to see why I struggled. I felt off-balance. Seeing classmates, coworkers, and teammates focusing effortlessly, I noticed my thoughts running:

  • What did the teacher/coach say?

  • Did someone see my bookbag/glove?

  • Why am I sometimes ready to play focused on the game, and occasionally, I check out?

My diagnosis at 42 did not magically make my life better, but I finally had an answer, something I could sink my teeth into it. Since then, I have been on a crusade to learn all I can. I hired an ADHD/Life coach. I found my strengths. With this new understanding, the clouds began to part, and light began to show itself. I am learning to go easier on myself. I stopped asking "why" and started asking "how."

I specialize in helping adolescents, college students and adult executives manage their ADHD.  Why this group?  I remember vividly the struggles of being a college student.  The missed assignments, disorganization, time management issues, the complete frustration! I was very driven, but it seems I was interested in EVERYTHING. but couldn't DECIDE on anything!  I was anxious and depressed.  Why was I so different?  Why couldn't I focus? I beat myself up about it.  As an executive in the private sector for 20 years, I understand the issues ADHD executives face.  Overwhelm. It literally affects everything including managing employees, emotions, organization, and of course, attention.

As an adult, I was finally diagnosed with ADHD.  I read all I could, hired an ADHD coach and my life changed.   The great news is now we know so much more about ADHD.   There are skills we can develop to not only survive but to thrive as both students and executives. I love to have FUN coaching!

What do I do to have fun away from coaching? I have one german shepherd (Yanni) , love outdoor exercise and live music. My first love will always be my family. (I have three daughters; 2 have ADHD).

Send me an email, check out my website. Let me know if you want a quick 15 min. consultation.  It is free and I am friendly.
